Pre-Requisite and Co-Requisite Guidelines
A student cannot rank or add an elective course if they have not satisfied the prerequisite for that elective course. A student must add the corequisite course during course ranking or add/drop. See list of courses with pre/corequisites.
A student may request a waiver for a prerequisite course only if there is no exemption exam for that course. Exemption exams are offered for the electives below during the dates announced via Canvas. Individual faculty may not waive a pre- or corequisite for a course.
B8306 Capital Markets & Investments
B8705 Business & Climate Change
Students who are interested in obtaining a waiver for a course that does not have an exemption exam should email the Division Chair and secure the waiver for the course no later than three weeks before the Coursematch course selection/ranking round begins - please check the registration calendar. The contact information for Division Chairs is below. Please allow at least one week for a response.
Students who believe they have the background to take B8519 Launch your Startup without having to take B8518 Foundations of Entrepreneurship should submit a waiver request.
All waiver decisions are final and cannot be appealed. If your waiver request is granted, please forward the approval to [email protected].

It is the individual student's responsibility both to understand the requirements and to have fulfilled the requirements. The most up-to-date pre- and corequisites can be found on the courses page descriptions listed within the MBA Course Schedule, and are required per request of the academic division. All pre- and corequisites are enforced per the Dean’s Office.
